_____

You know the time when someone gives you a compliment? “What a nice shirt” - and we make it smaller, saying “Ah it’s just this old thing, I haven’t worn for such a long time…” or the loong small talks about “no I’ll pay this one.. oh no, no, no let me pay” Or when someone wants to give us a hand with a work project..

Receiving used to make me feel weak, like “Do you think I can’t do ‘this’ by myself” and I was trying to prove to myself and the world that I can do whatever the ‘it’ is by myself.

Last year, I came to a very new realisation - I can do ‘it’ by myself, however it makes my life smaller. Because it’s just me. I’m not willing to open up.

What I can, is I can ‘own’ my opening up and allow myself to receive - not from a place of neediness and weakness, but from a place of empowerment.

I allow myself to receive because it expands my heart and therefore life of the ‘giver’.

Opening up for receiving creates a bigger impact in our life and lives of others. We’re not stuck in a small bubble of doing it all… We allow others to be part of our life, if it’s by receiving their compliment, their help, their dinner treat - we allow them to share their love with us.

It’s a two way treat - we receive and we give at the same time and how beautiful is that?
