One of the most important values in my life is feeling free. The right for freedom and the possibility of creating a new life has been with me since I was born. Very likely because I was born in the revolution year of 1989 when communism in Slovakia fell. Where we are born and our surroundings greatly affect who we are, our believes and values, however that’s only one side of our story.

We are always the ones in charge.

There is no one who can make us feel free apart from ourselves. We can live in the most ‘free’ country and feel really stuck. And we can live in a country with restrictions and feel free. Because the true freedom comes from within. It comes from us being aware of our own actions and where they come from. And that itself is liberating. The rest is life, which will always happen, one way of another.

Having awareness of ourselves gives us a choice and choice means true freedom.
